4A Mr. Bradford

Reading 
Students are working on their novel The Witches, by Roald Dahl.  This week we will focus on the Protagonist and Antagonist characters.  We will also focus on character traits, plot and theme.
Skills:  Decoding and writing a summary
Spelling lesson 8 Test Friday

Science
We will fly our hot air balloons on the next cold day now that we know how to fly a hot air balloon.
We will start on electricity.

Social Studies
This coming week the children will finish writing their expository piece on the early people of Wisconsin.


Math
We have mastered double digit by double digit multiplication. We will work on the process of multiplication with decimals, and then we will explore the idea of exponents.  Next up is division. 

Language Arts/Writing
We will continue to write about summer fun, and start on verbs working on verb names. 

Religion

We are working on our Baptismal names. 
and will continue to look at the Saints.
We periodically listen to or watch a video on the Parish's website, Formed.com 



4B Mrs. Kuhnmuench

 Parents, look for your child's work to come home during the week in their homework folders.  That is work that can be looked at and left at home.  I am adding more important assessments, such as writing rubrics and tests in the Monday folder.  That will be in addition to any of the mail carrier or school information that goes home that day.


Reading
We are working on the  novel Ralph S. Mouse, by Beverly Clearly.  The main focus is comprehension and vocabulary.  We will plot the story as well.
Skills:  Decoding and dictionary skills.

Vocabulary Unit 5: We will complete practice of our 13 vocabulary words with a test on Friday.  The vocabulary book will come home for your child to study.
Writing:  Writing a proper summary
Grammarcomplex sentences and recognizing fragments and run-on sentences.

Religion
Religion Unit 2: Jesus Our Lord and Savior
Unit 2 focuses on what Jesus taught us about God's love and forgiveness.  Our Saint this month is Saint John Baptiste Vianney.
