 OH BABY IT'S COLD OUTSIDE!!
Please make sure your child has the proper gear with them now; it's hard to get back into that routine so quickly!

Ssave the Date!  Kuhnmuench kids will sing in the choir at our November 21st Mass....feel free to sit where we usually sit, as the seats will be empty and you will get a better view.

Please bring 4 cans of corn for the House of Peace Collection!  Due date is Tuesday, November 14.

4A Mr. Bradford

Reading
This week we continue The Witches.  Our focus will be on comprehension (with more reading independently to check comprehension).  They will bring their books home to read for homework this week.
Skills:  Decoding and Using the dictionary and context clues to find meaning of vocabulary words in the novel.
Spelling lesson 9 (vowel + r sounds) Test Friday

Science
We have started on electricity as another piece of matter.
These students are very charged up about reaching out to touch something positive.  Next week we will have a static electricity project to complete at home.

Social Studies
We will do some preliminary work at the beginning of the week in preparation for the state report in the new year. Then we will start chapter 4 - The Fur Trade Era:  Exploration and Exchange in Wisconsin.

Math
We have explored the idea of exponents, and we are now solving problems using the Order of Operations.  We will start long division by first taking a look at estimating. Then we will solve one digit divisors by two and three digit dividends.  Next up will be dividing with remainders.

Language Arts/Writing
We will continue to write about summer fun, and start on verbs working on verb names.

Religion

With the Advent season approaching, we continue to look at how we are listening to God.
We are also watching a video about the U.S. Olympic Sled Hockey team,  discussing how thankful we are for what we have. Secondly, as we talk about our relationship with God we talk about how that may change over time compared to how these individuals relationship with God would change over time.
We periodically listen to or watch a video on the Parish's website, Formed.com

4B Mrs. Kuhnmuench

Parents, look for your child's work to come home during the week in their homework folders.  That is work that can be looked at and left at home.  I am adding more important assessments, such as writing rubrics and tests in the Monday folder.  That will be in addition to any of the mail carrier or school information that goes home that day.

Reading
We continue working on the  novel Ralph S. Mouse, by Beverly Clearly.  The focus this week is identifying cause and effect and when the author uses inference in the story.
Skills:  Decoding and Using context to understand the meaning of unknown vocabulary words.

Spelling lesson 9 (vowel + r sounds) Test Friday
