Reading
There will be no spelling this week.

Students just completed The Family Under the Bridge.  This week we will work on specific reading skills and a Journey's non-fiction story about service dogs.  The comprehension skill is sequence of events. The vocabulary strategy is suffixes.

Science

The students have found some pretty interesting facts about specific plants/crops that are produced in their states.  We are compiling the information into a slideshow, sorry no coloring, and students will present their information starting on Tuesday.

Social Studies

We will continue reading in Chapter 6,"They Came to Wisconsin and They're Still Coming:  Immigration and Settlement" next week.  The students have been filling in a chart for each migrant or immigrant story that they have read. This past week we also covered the Southeast states in geography and the students did two maps on the region. After the break, we will do a few letters for the ABC State Report Book.

Math

We have moved into multiplying and dividing fractions, Chapter 13 and Chapter 14.  This week we learned how to multiply fractions.  We also evaluated the answers in order to determine what is happening when we multiply fractions.  We have begun to take a look at multiplying whole numbers to fractions.  We will use the distributive and the whole number to fraction methods.

Language Arts/Writing

We are still working our way through the adjectives to describe our nouns and will try again to have a test next week.

Religion

During this Lenten season, we are looking at practicing kindness.  I ask the class to come in early at least once to help me out with the simple act of kindness.  I try to do this before school at about 7:30.  If you are able, I understand the limitations, to bring your child in at 7:30, please ask them to sign up with me for a day.

As a part of our mass, we have asked each of the other classes to list acts of kindness that they have witnessed. we will be posting the entire school's acts of kindness in the hallway.

The Iditarod has started.   The students each received a couple of mushers that they have looked up and know a little about.
Each student can go on and track their musher, on Iditarod.com.  username Lastrace  password:  MrBdogs
Students can track mushers on the GPS tracking.
